what a morally bankrupt rug merchant!
I don't people understand what genocide entails. The Armenian massacre was a response to war. That is, the Armenian rebellion in Van, their allegiance with Russia, during WWI, is what produced the massacres.
Don't get me wrong, I am not justifying Turkey. The Armenians rebelled for their rights. However provocation is on the Armenian side. There is no proof of "intent" on the Turkish side either. The only "intent" is that Turks responded to the rebellions and widespread treason by deporting the Armenian population.
I doubt anyone would consider trans-Atlantic slave trade [...]
Read the full comment "genocide". It, interestingly, can be suggested that certain processes used to contain and exterminate the indigenous population were genocidal. The entire episode cannot be branded as genocide, though.
PS: Ethnic massacres aren't lighter than genocides. Just very different concepts.
Turkey can cry all it wants, the genocide did happen not just the Armenians but also for the Pontus-Greeks, these are human beings not animals and they shouldn't be forgotten. Hopefully the whole World will follow Sweden.
