Snow covered most of Bulgaria after three days of almost perpetual snowfall. An arctic cold snap of -12C followed by sunshine and warm temperatures reaching 20C, succeeded by rain and then followed by another arctic dip are not uncommon for March.

Reportedly, the cold weather will remain over Bulgaria until March 20 or thereabouts. Thereafter, temperatures will raise and spring will slowly settle in.

Then again, given that this is March, or Baba Marta's month, one can never be certain about such insecure divine intervention.

Thus, always hope for a warm day, but get kitted out for winter to avoid being caught with your trousers down.
