Bulgarian military medical team returns from Haiti

The Bulgarian military medical team which participated in the rescue and humanitarian operation in Haiti will be awarded by the Bulgarian Defence Minister Anyu Angelov for their service, Dnevnik daily reported on February 11 2010.

The medical team from the Military Medical Academy returned to Bulgaria on February 17. It took part in the humanitarian mission in Haiti since January 22, arriving 10 days after the devastating earthquake on January 12.

The team consisted of Lieutenant–Colonel Dr. Alexander Parashkevov, a surgeon, Lieutenant-Colonel Dr. Kolyo Spasov, a traumatologist, Lieutenant-Colonel Dr. Plamen Karagyozov an anaesthetist and nurses First Sergeant Nadezhda Novoselska and Sergeant Daniela Ivanova.

The Bulgarian medic team provided assistance to the survivors in the devastated capital Port-au-Prince.
