Kristina.
Watch what you are saying, learn some history before writing here!
VASSILI, UK has the right to change effects of 100's years of domination. ANNA, does Tymoshenko have criminal record like Yanucovich? FALLAFEL, cheaters find clever ways. And a race this close needs must be investigated.
Kristina. Western Ukrainians in the UPA army fought against Soviets, Nazis and others. In 1932-33 6 million Ukrainians were starved to death by the Soviets.
Ukrainians joined Germans for protection from Russia.
I am Russian and live in Saint-Petersburg. My point of view of Urkrainian elections 2010 is the following. Million years Ukraine was divided into two parts - Western and Eastern. Eastern part was supported by its European neighbours (Poland mostly) and Western part was closer to Russia and Belorussia. In the Second World war (1941-1945) only Eastern part fought against Hitler and Western Ukrainian people were on Fascist's side and helped them to kill innocent people (eastern Ukrainians also!!). And now the history repeats: Western and Eastern parts are traditionally fighting and competing with each other. Moreover, I can say [...]
Read the full comment that Tymoshenko is supported by Americans and Yanukovych - by our country - Russian Federation. I want very much Yanukovich wins, because many Ukrainians live in Russia and many Russian live in Ukraine. So I want peace and happyness for our both countries. And hope everything will be better and better between us in the future!!!
I don’t think Ukraine need to separate into three different parts like it was mentioned by Vasilii. And there is no language surjik! Not many of us speak clean Ukrainian or Russian!!! Ukraine should remain united. We all Ukrainians and it doesn’t matter what language we speak. Yanukovich is retard and everyone knows this. Tymoshebko maybe not an angel; however, she is well spoken and she would represent Ukraine well enough. And this idiot probably didn’t finish high school. Don’t see why people would vote for him!
According to the biblical prophecy Russia is coming back. "At the appointed time [the king of the north = Russia] will return back [will regain the influence, which it lost after the break-up of the Soviet Union] and come into the south [many indicate that this might be Georgia], but it will not be as the former [1921] or as the latter [2008]. For the dwellers of coastlands of Kittim [the West] will come against him, and he will be humbled, and will return." (Daniel 11:29,30a)
Ukraine is like Belgium, i.e. an ephemeral and non-existent state. Just like Belgium it is now made up of three separate, Ukraine should finally find courage and federalize into three distinct entities with their own languages, culture, religion. Sto pretending like it's all about politics and East-West nonsense. It's all about three different languages and cultures, namely Russian-, Ukrainina- and Surzhik-speaking.
Yanukovich is Putin's Russian Pawn. There is nothing Ukrainian about him. He could have a great part in the "Sopranos" playing the Russian mafia and not running for high elective office. People like him belong in jail and not running a country. He is pure evil scum and somebody better disclose it before another person is allegedly poisoned by the Bolshovik scums. Of course he tampered with ballots and paid off poor peasants to vote for him. Anyone who doesn't believe in the Holodomor is not worthy of running Ukraine. You idiot - go back to your Russian roots and [...]
Read the full comment your Russian pals and stay away from Ukraine. Too much blood has been shed by so many for you to come in and erase it away.
Dignity is not something that Tymoshenko is familiar with. And the biggest problem is that she is not driven by money, but by some inconceivable desire for power, so she will not stop until she becomes the president, no matter how long and much that takes.
All articles I have read to date state clearly that the international independent election monitors are satisfied that the elections have been fair: "European observers have hailed the presidential elections in Ukraine as democratic, Russian media reports based on the source of the European Commission". What gives Ms Tymoshenko the right to think her 'camp' is right in assuming everyone else is wrong? If the elections are democratic, as she advocates, she should be able to stand down with dignity, instead of draggin the Ukraine through mud for her own ego. One is reminded of President Mugabe when thinking of [...]
