Prime Minister Boiko Borissov is leaving on a two-day working visit to London on February 7 2010 at the invitation of prime minister Gordon Brown, the Council of Ministers has announced.

Borissov's visit to the UK follows several recent overseas trips. Since the beginning of the year Borissov has been to Turkey, Germany and Israel.

During his trip to London Borissov will be accompanied by Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov and newly-appointed Foreign Minister, Nikolai Mladenov.
Perhaps aware that a general election in the UK is only a few weeks away, Borissov is also due to meet  representatives of the Conservative Party and the speaker of the house of commons, John Bercow.

During their talks, Borissov and Brown are expected to discuss the situation in Afghanistan and Bulgaria's Nato commitments.

Borissov is also due to meet members of London's Bulgarian community at the Bulgarian embassy shortly after his arrival.
