AdamNYC, I see you really like my name. Please don't wear it out.
Now, since you are so clever and know it all, please do tell us and don't forget to show evidence of when Kosovo got the green light to secede from Serbia.
Slovenia, Montenegro and Macedonia seceded without a problem. No, there was no war in Slovenia. I know about a couple of helicopter pilots (who were Slovenian) and a few of JNA soldiers that got fired on but that was the extent of it.
Croatia [...]
Read the full comment and Bosnia were a different matter because of unresolved issues re: territories which Serbs had so that resulted in actual wars. So you see, republics could secede without a war and Serbia's blessing, but Kosovo never had that status of a republic.
So please don't go around in circles. Just show me evidence of Kosovo's status as a republic with entitlement to secede and I will grant you that you are right.
@peggy...
reading a serb nationalist accusing others of "repeating the same old mantra" is hillarious.
good one, you got me there.
Now what you forgot to mention... Even full blown republics had a tad bit of a problem with sececeding, and oh dear... it was apparently illegal by many other of your fellow serbs standards... you can argue amongst yourselves about that one.
what you also forgot to mention, kosovo's autonomy and representation was within the federal govt. of yugoslavia. Oh yes peggy it [...]
Read the full comment was Distinct and seperate and the Equal to that of serbia. what you forgot to mention peggy was serbia tried to steal it, and attempted to use it against the other yugoslav republics. What a foolish serb it is to attempt to quote what was legal or not then...when it milosovic and serbia that broke..and rewrote enitrely those very same laws after the fact.
Ah but to remember that would mean really "owning up" peggy, that Yugoslavia did not and never has equated to serbia. Today's republic of Serbia is simply whats left over serbs failed attempted theft.
enjoy.
I see that you three fine gentlemen have come out to have a go at me.
Calling me grumpy is not the worst I have been called by Albanians so it's a step up from your usual behaviour.
I could not expect you or any Albanian to own up to the fact that you guys keep repeating the same old mantra.
One think you forgot to mention is that Kosovo was never a republic and never had any rights to secede.
It had autonomy but never a status of a [...]
Read the full comment republic so please don't try to tell me something which I know is not true.
It really doesn't matter what you think as nobody has to convince you of anything. What matters is what ICJ is going to decide and what the rest of the world thinks.
Your task is to convince two thirds of the world to take your word for anything you have stated here. Let's see how well you do.

He has a point, Peggy, you do come across as being rather grumpy....
hehehehe Peggy, you are truly one of a kind!
let me guess a "real history book" would be one published by a serbian.
AdamNYC, how you say, "hit the nail on the head" when he was talking about historical claims and belonging.I most say, if funny to see your reaction and unprofessionalism when you refer to other people's idea or opinion as "crap", THAT IS NOT VERY NICE (grumpy) LADY
One thing I will agree and take from your comment is when you said "because we are not [...]
Read the full comment going back... to redraw any borders now." It is time to wake up and accept the reality; Kosovo is sovereign and independent. Furthermore, its borders will never change!
take good care, and stop being so "grumpy"! (its bad for your health)
Simple Mind, spare me some crazy Albanian version of history.
You went way off the track. Have another read of what I wrote and if you wish to reply to that go ahead but please don't change the subject.
I really don't care for you Albanian version of anything because it's all crap.
I don't care where Serbs came from because we are not going back centuries to redraw any borders now. If we did the whole world would look different and there would be bloodshed around the [...]
Read the full comment world.
So enough of you Albanians being the first inhabitants of this earth. Enough of your Illyrian myth and I suggest you open a real history book where you Albanians are not Adam and Eve.
Peggy,
I already said spare me the nonsense „Kosovo is Serbia“! Vojvodina was until End of WW1 part of Hungary and now it is part of Serbia. Should Hungary claim Vojvodina now? Serbia was couple of centuries part of Ottoman Empire (Turkey is the quasi legal successor, the same as Serbia is claiming to be the legal successor of the former Yugoslavia). Should Turkey claim Serbia just because it was part of Turkey some time in the past? And anyway Serbs came to the Balkans from Carpathian Mountains some time between 8 - 10 century. And [...]
Read the full comment who do you think belonged that land prior to arrival of the newcomers! And please spare me another typical Serb propaganda nonsense: “Kosovo belonged before 8th century to some nomad Illyrian tribes that disappeared or were assimilated during the time. Albanians were brought from Asia by Turks during their invasions into the Balkans”! This is pure propaganda of some Serb quasi historians to try to dismiss the clear and proven continuity of Illyrians (the original people of the region of the former Yugoslavia) and Albanians (as their descendants)!
If you are looking to identify as who is the rightful owner of Kosova then open your eyes lady and face the ultimate truth that Albanians were before eons and are finally again the lord of their land Kosova! Serbs, Romans, Bulgarian, Turks and finally once more the Serbs were simply passing invaders! There goes a saying “Say a lie 100 times and your will start believing it yourself”. This is exactly what you and your fellow countrymen has been practising and creating myths for generations!!!
AdamNYC, it seems it is you who is desperate not me.
You are the one hoping like crazy that the rest of the world will recognise you.
Let's wait and see.
tch, no need to feed the trolls.
Serbian Nationalists and apologists are still under the continuous delusion that today's serbia is the inheritor of pre-milosovic yugoslavia. That their NEW state of Serbia is in fact younger than the paper un1244 and has never held or controlled kosovo at all.
Serbian apologists like pegster desperately cling to the idea that the countries that have yet to recognize kosovo somehow magically love and support serbia. Unfortunately for them, the political process is moving along slowly and surely against them... after all, Most of the [...]
Read the full comment "only" 60 countries that now recognize kosovo... according to peggy's logic... at one time "loved and supported" serbia.
tick tock.
The ONLY legitimate and Legal govt. in kosovo, that represents kosovo, is the one that was elected by kosovars.
@jim Burrel
every single thing serbs and milosovic took away from albanians in what was then Yugoslavia... The Kosovar govt. has gift wrapped and handed to the serb of kosovo. Garanteed Above and Beyond what Albanians in Yugoslavia ever had.
If serbs in kosovo gather in enclaves and refuse to take advantage of every bit of the rights and representation they are entitled to...egged on by extremists, that is there own choice. there is no going back to being on top of the apartheid foodchain created by milosovic...
Equality under the law is not abuse.
Kosovari102, when the rest of the world recognises Kosovo then I will agree that you are right in saying that majority of the world is not against "Kosova".
Until that happens, actions speak louder than words. No recognitions means they are not on your side.
Why is this so difficult to understand?
@ kosovari102~
kosovari imagine we were 6 years old on a playground and you took my lunchbox... you jumped up and down~~ its mine its mine and a very big kid from across the street came over with a big stick and said "yeah..its kosovari's now" ~~~~in a CIVILIZED world.. even kids on a playground.. "that lunchbox would NOT be yours" RIGHT?????? LET ALONE KOSOVO 15% OF A UN MEMBER COUNTRY
SERBIA
SO TO YOUR POINT YES KOSOVO IS SERBIA ..you may jump up and down all you want changes nothing
[...]

cheers!
Peggy,
you are trying to implement that Serbia was the landlord in the Kosovo-serbia situation. The fact is Kosovo was never part of Serbia to begin with. Second, when you say something like only 60 odd countries have recognized Kosovo's independence, you're implementing that the rest of the countries are against it which is NOT the case. the only countries that are against Kosovo's independence are: Argentina, Azebajoni, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Cyprus, Spain, Russia, Rommania, Venezuela, Vietnam. It's important to note that all these countries have their own problems in their own countries where they are politically [...]
Read the full comment oppressing those minorities who want their own independence.
thank you and take care.
Valon and simple mind,
You cannot compare Kosovo to Serbia or any official from "Kosova" to Serbian ones as Serbia exists legally while "Kosova" is just something in your dreams. Sure, 60 odd countries support you but that does not make it legal.
I can get support from some friends of mine to steal my landlord's property as well, but that does not make it legal or moral.
When the law says it's yours then it's yours. Let's wait and see what the law says.
Serbian Officials should finally stop provoking Kosovar authorities. There are clear rules of engagement and visiting procedures in Kosova for officials from other statesm incl. Serbia's officials. Everybody will be escorted out of Kosova incl. Serbias officials if these visiting procedures are not respected! And please spare me the nonsens "Kosovo is Serbia"!!!!
Kip on dreaming, Valon. The road to Kosovo independence is very long and is not going to be easy. Kosovo has to learn first how to protect their minorities and their property, otherwise they will not be very different from Serbia. The Serbs used to abuse the Albanians, now the Albanians abuse the Serbs. It's not much of a difference, independent or not.
Jim
So what?? Can you imagine if Prime Minister Thaci (of Kosovo) entered Presheva in Serbia (without permission) to support Albanians their. He would be lucky if they escorted him to the border. They would probably convict him of some absurd accusations. The Serbian government is not angry at the expulsion itself, they are angry that it implies sovereignty of Kosovo. America said it best "Kosovos independence is irreversible."
