More snow expected over Bulgaria

More snow is expected over Bulgaria, although in moderate quantities, while the arctic grip will ease slightly as temperatures hesitantly edge upwards.

Cloud cover will continue over most of the country and up to five cm of fresh snow is expected in northwestern Bulgaria. Average temperatures for the country will be between -2C and -8C, a considerable improvement from the average of -18C on January 26. Sofia should record temperatures of about -2C, the Bulgarian Meteorological Service reported on its website.

Along the Black Sea coast, mild to moderate southeasterly winds will prevail. It will be cloudy with possible snow in the south.

According to the report, conditions in the mountains will be considerably worse than they were on January 26, as it is expected to be cloudy, causing much reduced visibility, while moderate southeasterly winds will prevail throughout the day. At 2000m, temperatures should be around -12C.
