A positive resolution to the stand-off between Greek farmers and their government is still nowhere in sight and the situation at the Greek- Bulgarian border is apparently still far from normal.

The latest development, according to Bulgarian media on January 27 2010, is that Greek farmers at the Ilinden Exohi crossing point have announced a "schedule" by which all vehicles, regardless of their nature, will be stopped between 9am and 9pm.

Between 9pm and 9am the following morning, traffic will be allowed to go through.

The Ilinden–Exohi border crossing point has been operating according to this "schedule" from January 26 although, reportedly, the farmers at the Kulata-Promahon point are yet to implement it.

The remaining two border crossing points at Captain P Voivoda-Ormenidon and Zlatograd and Xanthi are to work normally, the reports say.

Greek farmers have insisted that they will not lift the blockade until their government agrees to their demands. The hopes for a successful development were hampered, however, when it was revealed that Greek agricultural minister Katerina Batzeli from the Pasok-led government had failed to reach a workable solution with the protesters.

The protesters have set up more than 20 roadblocks around Greece, as well as blocking the Bulgarian border.
