Bulgarian National Television (BNT) will show the Hope for Haiti telethon, hosted by George Clooney and Wyclif Jean, on January 23 2010 at 9.40pm, the public broadcaster said.

Among the about 40 stars appearing on the fundraiser are Madonna, Shakira, Sting, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Rihanna and Bono, as well as a long list of Hollywood big names, including Morgan Freeman, Will Smith, Leonardo di Caprio, Brad Pitt, Clint Eastwood, Tom Hanks and Nicole Kidman.

BNT asked for support for the Bulgarian Red Cross SMS campaign to raise funds for Haiti earthquake victims, by sending text messages to 1255. Each SMS costs 1.20 leva.

The broadcast will be a recording of the two-hour event, which is being held on January 22. Funds from the Hope for Haiti telethon will be distributed to a number of relief organisations, including UNICEF, the Red Cross and Oxfam America.
