Former deputy prime minister in Sergei Stanishev's cabinet, Meglena Plougchieva, has been approved by Prime Minister Boiko Borissov's as Bulgaria’s candidate for the post of vice president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Bulgarian-language Dnevnik daily said on January 20 2010.

According to Dnevnik, Plougchieva's nomination will be discussed by the bank on January 20 2010 with the EBRD's board of directors having the final word later on.

"We are supporting all Bulgarian candidates of quality, unlike other Bulgarian political parties, because we are Bulgarians," Borissov was quoted as saying.

He was referring to the recent drama around Roumyana Zheleva, who on January19 2010 stepped down as Bulgaria's European Commissioner-Designate and Bulgaria's Foreign Minister after what she and Borissov described a plot staged by Borissov's political opponents in Bulgaria.

Plougchieva was deputy prime minister responsible for European Union funds in the coalition government of Bulgarian Socialist Party leader Sergei Stanishev, which was voted out of office in 2009.

After Borissov's party GERB won the elections, sending Stanishev and the BSP into opposition, Plougchieva became an MP on the BSP ticket.

Prior to becoming a minister, Plougchieva was Bulgaria's ambassador to Germany.

Well, he is sooo good at making the wrong choices especially when it comes to key positions.
And may be they don't have to force him ... He has favours to pay back...

It is clear that not Mr. Borissov, but some dark powerfull people decide on positions, just to have their people in place, even in international organisations.

Privatisation girl Jeleva was such a case, the new 70y old minister of Defence, a communist hero, is another case, but Plugchieva, now for the second time, is the top!

They are that powerfull, that they even force Borissov to select a socialist!

This is what happens when a country selects a prime minister who has had murky relations with the underworld [...]
