World Bank vice president Kristalina Georgieva will be Bulgaria's new nominee for the next European Commission after the withdrawal of Roumyana Zheleva, reports on January 19 2010 quoted European Commission President Jose Barroso as saying.

Georgieva is a close ally of Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borissov, although reportedly she has declined previous offers by Borissov for a role in Bulgaria's Government.

Bulgarian media quoted Borissov as saying he had not accepted Zheleva's resignation as Foreign Minister. Borissov did not confirm Georgieva's nomination.

He did accept her resignation as a Foreign Minister as well. The news published here is inaccurate..

Not good enough to be a European Commissioner but good enough to be Bulgarian Foreign Minister!

Borissov really is insulting the electorate and, yet again, embarrassing Bulgaria internationally.
