The registrar of .eu domains opened registration for domain names using characters from the whole Latin, Cyrillic and Greek alphabets.
The registrar of the .bg top level domain, started accepting applications for domain names in Cyrillic on September 5 2009.

I would have thought that either .бъ or .бъл, with a more obvious Cyrillic content, would have been more appropriate.
