Almost all directors of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) are to be replaced at the BSE’s general shareholders’ meeting scheduled for January 20 2010.

At the request of Finance Minister Simeon Dyankov, BSE shareholders will vote on whether to terminate the terms of board members ahead of schedule and to replace them.

Two of the current Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) directors will remain on the board but the number of members will be reduced from seven to five.

Dyankov’s proposal has been co-ordinated with the other shareholders for approval. The state is the BSE’s main shareholder, keeping 44 per cent of its capital.

The board will part ways with Bistra Ilkova, Viktor Papazov, Andrei Pramov, Todor Breshkov and Lyudmila Elkova, who represents the state.
Ivan Takev and Assen Yagodin will be re-elected.

The new candidates include Vassil Golemanski, Lyubomir Boyadjiev and Petko Shishkov.

Sources told Dnevnik that Ivan Takev will be the BSE’s executive director following the reshuffle. Petko Shishkov, a former journalist with experience as investment broker, is tipped as board chairman.

After pushing for a representative on BSE’s board for years, the Bulgarian Association of Licensed Investment Brokerages will finally get its way.

Once voted by shareholders, BSE’s new management will have to get the thumbs-up from Ralitsa Againe, deputy chairwoman of the Financial Supervision Commission (FSC).

Approached for comment by Dnevnik, she said Dyankov’s proposal was "just" and is therefore supported by the regulator.
