A charity gala concert in aid of Bulgarska Koleda, the initiative under the patronage of Bulgarian President Purvanov, will be broadcast live and online by Bulgarian National Television from Sofia’s Ivan Vazov National Theatre on December 25 2009.

It is the eighth year that the Bulgarska Koleda campaign is being held. During this time, it has raised millions of leva for medical treatment for ill children.

The concert starts at 7.30pm.

The programme features professional singers and dancers, and even singing performances by journalists.

Ballet teacher Masha Ilieva told Bulgarian National Television in an interview: "I assist children with cancer and recently made a donation to the hospital. I hope that every gesture, even the smallest, is useful and will help someone get better."

The youngest participants in the charity concert are ballerinas from Ilieva’s ballet school and singers from Bon-Bon ensemble.

To support Bulgarska Koleda, an SMS sent to 1117 will mean a donation of one lev to the charity.
