Members of Parliament and the Cabinet will not receive a 13th salary – an extra month's salary over the Christmas period – or bonuses, speaker of Parliament Tsetska Tsacheva was quoted as saying by Investor.bg on December 16 2009.

An extraordinary session will be held on December 22 and possibly on December 23. Other than that, Parliament is scheduled to resume business in 2010 once again with an extraordinary session poised for January 12.

On January 11, the parliamentary commissions are likely to have a session, though no other activity is envisaged, Tsacheva said.

Reportedly, the Parliamentary holiday would be used so that technicians can install the new biometric system for voting which will replace the current controversial one.

Regarding the long holiday which will be enjoyed by Members of Parliament and the Cabinet Administration, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borissov said:

"We are Christians, God said that we are not supposed to be working and we have to listen to the boss," Investor.bg reported.
