Daily ski passes for Bulgaria's major ski resorts for the 2009/2010 season will remain unchanged from last year, Dnevnik daily reported on December 14 2009.

Prices in Bansko, Bulgaria's most developed ski resort, and arguably the most modern in southeastern Europe, will remain at 50 leva a day. A daily ski pass for Pamporovo in the Rhodope is also pegged at 50 leva, while skiing in Borovets, in Rila, will cost 55 leva a day for all facilities on a weekday and 35 leva on a weekend. In Vitosha, south of Sofia, skiers will be able to enjoy the delights of the mountain for 35 leva a day.

Three-day passes and weekly discount passes will also remain unchanged from last year. A three-day pass in Borovets will cost 154 leva, 147 leva in Bansko and 146 leva in Pamporovo. Weekly passes are 268 leva for Borovets and 283 leva in Bansko and Pamporovo. Skiers must note that the "weekly" pass only covers six days' skiing.

Two of Bulgaria's top four resorts, however, will increase the cost of their annual ski passes, according to reports. The price of an annual ski card in Bansko will be increased by 100 leva, reaching 860 leva, while in Pamporovo it will cost a staggering 2000 leva, Dnevnik daily reported. Foreign tourists who only come to Bulgaria for a one-week or a two-week holiday, however, will not be affected by the rising cost of annual cards.

In 2010, skiers in Bulgaria will be able to take advantage of the "off season discount" that starts after March 15 whereby ski passes will only cost 44 leva in Borovets and only 40 leva in Bansko after April 1.

On average, prices for rented ski equipment will also remain at similar levels to the previous season – 30 leva for the kit for a day and 50 leva an hour for a ski instructor.

Profits at Coast plummet due to lack of tourists.

Property prices fall 30%.

Fewer people using Sofia Airport.

Winter bookings at a whole time low, what's the answer.

Fleece anybody stupid enough to try and support the genuine Bulgarians who ultimately suffer at the hands off these rip off mongers.

All seems very expensive to me. Off season discounts now there's an incentive

Someone forgot to mention that the annual pass discounts have now been stopped completely. Last year 40% for locals and 20% for 2nd season, now NO discount. And by the way, €25 for a day pass in Bansko, €22 in most European resorts. Bansko, you will kill the golden goose.
