Infrastructure construction rose by 2.3 per cent in October, but remains considerably below the levels recorded in October 2008, according to construction industry data from the National Statistics Institute (NSI), released on December 10.

In October, infrastructure construction, which includes roads, bridges, pipelines, sewage and other infrastructure projects, decreased by 15.3 per cent compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, construction of buildings has plummeted by 30.6 per cent for the same period.

In the first 10 months of 2009, total construction in Bulgaria decreased by 13 per cent, NSI says. A considerable reason for the decrease is attributed to buildings construction segment, which dropped by 17.7 per cent compared to the same period of 2008, while infrastructure projects have declined only by 2.3 per cent in January-October.

According to NSI, this showed a gradual shift of priority in investments from residential to infrastructure construction in the industry.

I think that I we emphasis on the infrastructure project we can accumulate more jobs than the construction jobs.I read the article and found that economic downturn gains it's power over the construction industry.
