Ten minutes after midnight on December 10, a group of armed men attacked a private vault on Sofia's central Dondoukov Boulevard, immobilised the two guards, handcuffed them and escaped with some of the belongings from the vault, police said.

Some media reports said that the attackers were 10, while other suggested that they were just three. Some Bulgarian media says that one of the attackers used a vault's membership card to gain access to the premises.

The two guards were pushed to the floor and handcuffed. Police has not revealed any further information, other than to say that it was working on the case. Some media reports suggested that the attackers were not using masks.

It is not yet clear what exactly was stolen from the vault.
