On December 6 2009, the American Wrestling Rampage (AWR) put up a great show in Sofia's Universiada Hall on the second day of its Bulgaria tour. The previous day, the US wrestlers performed in the Black Sea city of Varna.

The two Bulgarian shows were the closing events of AWR's "European Invasion" tour, which started in France on November 17 2009 and continued in Germany and Romania before coming to Bulgaria.

The tour featured AWR champion Rene Dupree, Rob Van Dam, Sid, Raven, Sabu, X-Pacc, The Briscoe Brothers and many more top names from around the globe. Bret "Hitman" Hart made several appearances in Germany during the tour.
