Foreigner consumer complaints: real estate, transport and deceptive ads

A third of all complaints filed with the Bulgarian section of the European Consumer Centre (ECC) by foreigners in Bulgaria concerned real estate, the ECC said, as quoted by Bulgarian daily Dnevnik.

Most of these complaints were filed by British and Irish property owners, Dnevnik said.

Another 28 per cent of complaints from foreigners was related to transport problems, lost luggage, delayed flights and inadequate transport, and 30 per cent to deceptive advertisements for products or services, ECC said.

Of complaints received from Bulgarians, just more than three-quarters were about inadequate transport services and the loss of luggage. One explanation put forward for the high of complaints about lost luggage was the bankruptcy of Sky Europe in October 2009, which caused a significant turmoil among tourists who had to be redirected to alternative flight arrangements.

About 13 per cent of Bulgarians have complained about dishonest practices by retailers and have filed complaints about poor service at hotels and restaurants.

The ECC said it had processed a total of 326 complaints since the beginning of the year, most of which had come from Bulgarians.

Someone must have the e-mail address for this EEC department! It may be restricted so people cannot complain!

Where is this ECC and how can you make a complaint there? I have a pile of things I want to complain about :)

I think it's complacency. Bulgarians have suffered for so long that they know things won't change even if complained about.

wow 326 complaints !! sounds like such a number would have an electronic retialer per month...

I think people in BG are used to suffer instead of insisting of adequat value for money service and products...
