A two-day international military forum is scheduled to commence in Sofia on November 24. The conference is set to discuss issues relating to defence, security and business, Bulgarian National Television (BNT) reported on November 24 2009.

Participants in the event will be Bulgarian Army General Simeon Simeonov, president of the Atlantic club Solomon Pasi, high ranking officers and representatives of Bulgarian and foreign defence contractors. Priority topics of discussion will be the new strategy implemented by Nato, ongoing operations in Afghanistan, the modernisation of the Bulgarian Army, and the Bulgarian contribution to combat and peacekeeping operations overseas.

On November 24, the forum will be held at the Georgi S Rakovski Military Academy in Sofia, while the following day the participants are poised to discuss the "modernisation of Bulgarian industry and science", BNT reported.

The forum will be hosted by the Defence Ministry and the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism.
