President Purvanov on official visit to Greece

Bulgarian President Georgi Purvanov is on a three-day official visit to Greece starting November 24 2009 through to November 26 on an invitation from his Greek counterpart, Karolos Papoulias, a Government media statement said on November 24 2009.

Both heads of state are set to hold talks with their respective delegations, while agreements will be signed on bilateral co-operation in education, sciences and culture for the period 2009-2011, Dnevnik daily reported.

Additionally, a Greek-Bulgarian business forum will be inaugurated by both presidents. Following the meeting with Papoulias, Purvanov is scheduled to meet in Athens Greek prime minister George Papandreou, speaker of parliament Filipos Petsalnikos, and Greek archbishop Ieronimos.

The Bulgarian head of state will also meet representatives from several Greek political organisations, including Nea Demokratia and former prime minister Costas Karamanlis, and the KKE (Greek Communist Party).

The Bulgarian delegation will consist of the Economy and Energy Minister Traicho Traikov, Minister of Regional Development Rossen Plevneliev, Deputy Foreign Minister Marin Raikov, foreign policy advisor Radoslav Tochev, head of the Bulgarian manufacturing chamber Tsvetan Simeonov and the executive manager of the Bulgarian energy holding, Galina Tosheva.
