The 2012 end-of-world blockbuster will see its Bulgarian premiere in the early hours of November 13.

At 12 minutes past midnight, the film will be screened at Arena cinemas in Pleven, Sofia, Stara Zagora, Varna, Veliko Turnovo, as well as the Flamingo cinema in Plovdiv, Bulgarian broadcaster Avtora.com said.

The film, written and directed by Roland Emmerich of Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow, is based on the legend that the Maya calendar runs out on December 21 2012, which is taken to signal the end of the world.

Mayans have criticised the film's premise, saying the Mayan calendar contains no such prediction.

Even NASA has set up a website to dispel many of the myths of the world ending in 2012.

The Mayan calendar is based on 5,000 years cycles and just one of them ends in 2012, which means that the consecutive 5,000 cycle starts in 2012 and people will continue their lifes for the next 5,000 years :-)
Obviously, the cinema has exhausted its ideas and potential to create science-fiction and has started to prepare non-science fiction, based on wrongly interpreted facts. It's a pity, because many people are supersticious and can easily believe in nonsense...
