The website for Bulgaria's Chief Directorate for Combating Organised Crime (CDCOC) was briefly hacked on November 12.

Instead of the site's homepage, a red background with four skulls, surrounded by slain dragons and the text "HacK3D by tAn1A. With loVe from Russia. iT's WaR," appeared, Bulgarian daily Trud said.

Within 15 minutes the original page had been restored, Trud said.

The hack attempt was not the first time this had happened. Yavor Kolev, head of the Computer Crime unit at CDCOC, was quoted by Trud as saying that "before, they did not manage to change any pages. It seems we did not take the necessary measures, but this will not happen again".

The cybercrime.bg website was produced by students from the John Atanasoff electronics high school, together with specialists from the CDCOC. The site aims to inform about cybercrime, as well as provide a mechanism for users to file tip-offs.

The hacking of the website came only days after the CDCOC seized a record 27 terrabyte of illegal films, music, games and software, Trud said.
