Influenza update: 15-year-old boy dies in Varna

A 15-year-old boy, native of Kavarna in northeastern Bulgaria, succumbed to the H1N1 strain at midnight on November 9 in the st Marina hospital in Varna, the Bulgarian news agency (BTA) reported

The boy had been hospitalised since October 26. He is the first fatality claimed by the new strain in Varna, doctor Svetla Staneva from Regional Inspectorate for Public Health Prevention and Control (RIOKOZ) told Dnevnik daily.

Staneva told the media that RIKOZ Varna will shortly receive data about new infections over the weekend. Medical authorities believe that there will be a "sharp increase" in new cases.
