Levski Sofia: we are fighting for the title

Levski Sofia have sent a message of defiance to their opposition claiming that "nothing is lost and that they will aim for the championship" until the end of the football season, Sportal.bg reported on October 30 2009.

"Nothing is lost, the morale in the team is improving, the mood is better," the team's new interim head coach Toni Zdravkov said at a news conference ahead of the team's 11th league round against Lokomotiv Mezdra at the weekend.

"We will not suffer any more defeats at home, as we did against Beroe at the beginning of October," he said.

He sought to reassure fans, saying that the mood was stable and that his men did not have a "psychological crisis".

"When the players are on the pitch, they must focus and think only of the game and nothing else. And when our main rivals spill points (in reference to CSKA Sofia's home 3-1 defeat to Minyor Pernik), we must take full advantage of that," he said.

Levski Sofia will face Lokomotiv Mezdra on October 31 at 7pm at Gerena Stadium in Sofia. Currently the champions are in eighth position with 13 points, while at the top of the table are Chernomorets with 26 points, followed by CSKA Sofia with 25. The Blues, however, have a match in hand.

Third in the table are Litex with 22 points from nine outings, followed by Lokomotiv Sofia and Beroe with 20 and 16, respectively.

Meanwhile, arch-rivals CSKA are facing a tough away encounter against Litex Lovech on November 1 at 7.30 pm, while Chernomorets will travel to Minyor Pernik on October 31, for an early 2.30pm kickoff.
