Bulgaria will not put forward its own nominations for the posts of European Council president and the bloc's new-style foreign minister as envisaged in the Lisbon treaty, the Council on European Affairs at the Bulgarian Cabinet decided on October 26 2009.

The council was discussing Bulgaria's agenda for the upcoming October 29-30 meeting of the European Council in Brussels.

The EU heads of state and governments will discuss the situation in light of the EU Lisbon Treaty, which is yet to complete the ratification process depending on the outcome of the delay in the Czech Republic, as well as the two nominations for the positions of European Council president and the bloc's new-style foreign minister.
