University student Roumen Gouninski, who was kidnapped on October 19 2009, had been found in an area just outside Sofia, Bulgarian National Television (BNT) said on October 27 2009.

The news was neither confirmed nor denied by the police and BNT said nothing about Gouninski's condition.

Approached by Bulgarian news agency Focus, Gouninski's father said that he learned about the news from BNT and knew nothing about it. "I haven't paid any ransom nor have I been contacted by kidnappers," he said.

He was referring to unconfirmed media reports that the kidnappers had given him a three-week deadline to pay between 500 000 euro and two million euro for his son.
