Bulgaria has more doctors per head than just about any other country. Problem is not many are very good except at blackmailing patients. Some even got there certificates because daddy arranged it for them. Patient confidentiality doesnt exist and for many even if they see the doctor they cant afford the huge sums required by the most corrupt of all - Big Pharma. Make drugs affordable for all please and do this by reducing the number of hospitals and some very iffy doctors.
So where does the money come from to support the change of status and use of the 300 to-be-closed hospitals but to become rehab centres etc. Does not add up. Government by fear and PR again.

Stefcho, what I don't understand is how could you possibly bring up anything to do with Iraq, as an example of anything positive?
Are you people so clueless as not to see that what the US and their puddle UK are doing is a major crime and an embarrassment of gigantic proportions, in relation to ANYTHING BG could possibly do, or fail to do, as it were...

If the Bulgarian people do not fight for better healthcare then they do not deserve it you are right in saying they are cesspits what you need is another BBC doc by Blewitt to shame the goverment in BG and the rest of the EU then things may get better, But if they are shutting down some of the old hospitals and build modern ones thats a different matter.Stefcho you have made a good point about the dogs and cats also if the so called health care is anything like the childrens homes then I think everyone would prefer to [...]
Read the full comment be shot.
Bulgarians should be ashamed of themselves for allowing their National Health Service, and Hospitals, to become the cesspit they now are.
I've seen better health care on the battle field in Iraq, a freaking desert with trained drs not ones that have spent 6 yrs in school and then call themselves Drs, these are not Drs they are still students and the Bulgarian system should treat them this way. Also they should pay the drs a decent wage so they don't have to bribe the patients and offer them the difference between life and death. I mean how fair is that? The dogs and cats get better care at the vet centers in Sofia, the get all the medicine they need, [...]
Read the full comment the proper shots they need, if they have a problem it is fixed and they go on to love happy lives, why can't BG do that little thing for it's people, the people that pay the taxes for this horrible hospital system, if I were Bulgarian and depended on the health care system there, I would just shoot myself and get it over with just to avoid the pain and suffering.
