Russian president Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Serbia saw Moscow agreeing to lend a billion euro; the signing of bilateral agreements on education, science and police collaboration; and on the Serbian section of South Stream and a joint venture for the Banatski Dvor underground gas storage site.
But in Macedonia and Kosovo, not everyone is happy, with some local and opposition parties alleging that their respective country had lost on the deal.

Everyone knows, that Europe depends on Russian gas and is not in slightest position to annoy Russia.
Last time they cut our gas in 2008, most of our economies went to their knees.
It is not coincidence that Russia is building a new gas pipeline for Europe that will go through Serbia, with the largest underground depot in Norther Serbia.
Russia just gave Serbia 2 billion Euros , as an investment. All this is giving Russia a perfect excuse to do what ever they want on Balcans.

To be frank, most of Europeans do not want an Islamic state in Europe. Not to mention that everywhere in Western Europe, particularly here in UK, there is a strong anti-Albanian feeling , not because of their religion but, because of their criminal activities.
We are in the process of the general elections and lot of Brits are voting for BNP mainly because of their strong support for Serbia.
We have seen what these savages have done to the world heritage, burning churches and monasteries, robbing the entire world of its history,
It looks like a bunch of apes swinging from the trees. Do we really wont to give a country to a such horde?
Independent' Kosovo is a threat, not a country!
With a stoke of his pen, President Bush, by heeding the State Department's bad advice to recognize a supposedly independent Kosovo, has triggered the perfect international storm: shattering the principle of the territorial integrity of sovereign nations, encouraging violent separatists worldwide, provoking a needless confrontation with Russia and China , boosting the jihad terrorist and organized crime threat to Europe and America, and creating conditions for a human rights and religious freedom nightmare. In terms of far-reaching consequences, it may the worst blunder of his presidency.
alb boy what the hell are you talking about when was it albanian...you albanians are a piece of shit the most hated ethnic group in europe all you are is drug dealers women trafficers... kosovo je srbija
The only way forward is to throw out the Albanian trash out from Kosovo. I say attack it destroy them all and history will forget them. Glory to Serbia/Russia!! No room for Islamic terrorists in the heart of Serbia!

If this is what you where taking into consideration, may be you where wright.

Serbia will not give advice to K-Albanians. Serbia together and its citizens, honest K-Albanians, will together, on equals basis, follow the path to the EU as democratic and prosperous country.

I entirely support Valeri when he says:
<<Drawing on history to orient yourself in the modern world is a losing proposition.
Kiev was the heartland of Russia too, but these days isn't even in Russia - these things happen in history my friend. Get over it, and try to get your country up to speed - Kosovo is not Serbia... any more;) >>
This is only too true (I particularly like his reference to Kiev, now capital city of the Ukraine and no longer part of Mother Russia !) Kosovo [...]
Read the full comment is not Serbia any more, just like in the Wizard of Oz, Judy Garland says "Gee, we aren't in Kansas any more"...one has to accept modern realities.
This also applies - mutatis mutandis - to Macedonia too. We are no longer living in the time of Alexander the Great (although this may be rather a pity as he really would have sorted out the Taliban, no problem !)
Detail - resolution 1244 only applied to FRY (rest of Jugoslavija that hadn't yet broken away), and didn't apply to Serbia, which was not technically a "successor state" (sorry George - you got that bit wrong !) So it cannot be invoked against Kosovo.
Finally, Valeri - well done for that excellent summary of Hungarian / Magyar history. Most instructive to everybody - including me !

@ simple minds ...man what are u smoking ...OMG!!
if there is a god it will have the last word !!!! thank you Mr. President
Simple mind, a point of yours:
"LEGAL: According to UNSC Resolution 1244 Kosova is part of the Yugoslav Federation until a settlement of the final status. Yugoslav Federation does not exist any more and the Kosova status has been finally settled in accordance with the comprehensive proposal made by the UNSC appointed negotiator, former president of Finland and Nobel Peal laureate Mr Martti Ahtisaari."
Marti's plan was thronw into the garbage bin where it belongs. It was not and will never be negotiated in the UN so it is WORTHLESS.

"Well Peggy:
Simple Mind is just a nickname and I like it. In fact, I have tried to simplify the complex issue of Kosova but obviously you either did not like the reality and started mocking my nickname for the lack of good arguments or you just simply did not understand my arguments and tried to make the mater personal. Sorry to say it but your comment is a bit pathetic. I very much welcome a constructive argument!"

I was not mocking your name. I was mocking you because I have never read so much rubbish in my life.
I welcome a constructive argument as well but yours simply wasn't.
I am not surprised.
NATO just asked Russia for help in Afghanistan - that's a great deal of leverage right there.
I personally think that it's outrageous - after all the support NATO has given to all kinds of Muslims against Russia - in Afghanistan included, after all the arming and destabilizing her frontiers, to ask for help.
Not only that, but just a year a go, NATO inadvertently forced Russia to take military action by arming and encouraging Georgia - part of the endless western effort of keeping Russia busy at her borders [...]
Read the full comment - that one was so obvious an affront, that makes the Kosovo situation pale in comparison.
I hope the Russians milk NATO for all they can forfeit.
FutureAkt. It is exactly this arrogant altitude (way of thinking) that will always blind you from understanding others. It is a waste of time to argue with you on a higher level...
There are over 6.5 billion people in this world. There are 192 members of an international organisation that goes by the name of UN which was created by all the great nations and its peoples of the world. If anyone believes that the will of 600 million will rule upon the other 6 billion then you are living in the wrong time.
We have passed the time when the british could rule over India, or Spanish in the Philipines, The europeans over The Arabs. We have simply entered a world were every community, every people, every [...]

BRIC as mentioned previously, will by the year 2050 become the strongest economical block in the world, russia will have after the British the largest income per annum for each individual. It will include, 40% of the world population, and as time goes on it will change the world as we see it. Interests, power, strategic positions, wealth, religion will take a different path.
Kosovo, why is it Serbian? Because the foundations of the Serbian nationhood was formed on its lands, its religion its traditions , its people, grew and became who they are today from that land. Albanians, suggest at times they are ancestors of the illyrians, but at the same time have no blood line linking them to such civilisation or people. They have no connection in language, beliefs or tradition. in the 17th and 18th centuries, todays albanians devided each other as either, Arnauti and Arbanasi. These people where moved over from the caucasus as a weapon of the Ottoman empire for man power to win its battles in europe, more so on the balkan peninsular. Through time, they were given the right by the Ottoman turks to inhabit the land we know today as Albania. Which had no natural resources and was not a rich land known to previous people and could not supply and support its inhabitants with the much needed goods a human relies on to survive. As the power of europe was shifting, and the decreasing influence by the turks was relised, slowly retreating from bosnia, bulgaria and greece. The Arbanasi and Arnauti, one being the original the other being the forcefully (albanised) which is proven by the way, had no other option then to increase the numbers in the surrounding areas and try to occupy and with time gain the land which the further retreating Ottoman turks were leaving behind.Proof of this is the league of Prizren, where the facts of that time and today show that the newly formed Albanian People had one interest only and that was to gain wealthy rich land to accomodate its people by taking chunks of land through the way of force. This is simply just a few things id like to mention.
We see the bulgars or as we know them today once slavinized in time the Bulgarians, who also came to the land they live on today from another part of the world but do not complain about the presence , existence, integrity, soveirenty, right to be where they are. Because that is where they formed there foundations of who they are today, as the Serbs did in Kosovo and Metohija. The Romanians (Vlachs) a people of the former Roman empire, have done the same, or the Magdars or Hungary, a conquering People who inhabited its lands by force, entering europe as Huns and by the influence of europe and its values founded its foundations to what we know today as Hungary and Hungarians. That is why, Serbia also has its right to be where she is, and That is why Kosovo is Serbian, and that is why all this that i mention relates to why Serbia believes Kosovo is hers, and why she has the right to claim the land. Simply because as the Hungarians, Bulgarians, Romanians, Albanians, migrated to these lands after the Slavs and claim land and built the nations and people on such foundations, so do the Serbs have these rights, The right to protect its land, history, its place of Birth, its Heart , Sole , Religion and first place of statehood. Thats why my friend Serbian Claims Kosovo To be hers.
I am willing as an uneducated young man, to argue and debate in a human like manner with anyone about anything related to Kosovo, Albanians, Europeans, Serbs. You put down your point of view, and then i will argue and put down mine and you can have the privelage of having the last say.
Everything is related to something else, you cannot simply place some arguments on the table without the time to take into consideration the surrounding facts. There is one truth, but it depends ont he way you interpret that truth, and how you were brought up to believe. In Serbian we say "poturcen turcin je gori od turcina" which translate in one way or another "the converted is worse then the converter" why because he must prove himself and with time he becomes to believe in these things stronger and stronger and then there is no turning back, thats why i mention what we are brought up to believe which plays a major factor in our lives, attitude, and the way we look at the truth. Really, there exsists only one history , truth.
Today, As i mentioned, We live in the time of the UN, this organisation has the security council which brings forward Resolutions to maintain world peace, by this chamber, and its powers it drew up, which is mentioned continously Resolution 1244, which clearly states and clarifies Serbia is the legal owner or Kosovo and Metohija but is and will be administered and protected by UNMIK and today EULEX(Both stating they are neutral of the status) untill a long lasting agreement can be made by all sides including belgrade. The UDI by Pristina, obviously is not, so this matter is not finalised. That is the only simple thing in this unsimple situation, but by all means, Kosovo is not independant, its Status is not finalised, its recognition by certain powers can be overturned like they were, when The ottoman empire accepted the same claim of independance 100 years ago then reveresed its decision by the influence, help, diplomatic and by lastly war on its political position. History repeats itself, unlucky for us, the Albanians as we know them today, keep trying, there people hold a strategic position in the balkans which plays a major role in the eyes and interests of the Nations around them.
Please my name is Branimir Maksimovic, and for the interest of My people i am pleased to share the knowledge i have to argue and debate over and topics in relation to The balkans its history and by all means How Kosovo was, Is and will always be Serbian.
Kosovo is Serbia, Serbia is Kosovo.!

Does anyone heard of Albanian scientist, well known sportist or some important man? - NO!
Kosova has never been Serbia's. It is that simple. How did it become? Serbs came from Russia, they're brothers. it's normal that Medvedev supports Serbia.
Simple Mind it's not that simple, historians say albanians came from the caucasus mountains. Republic of Serbia as a member state of the UN, it's sovereignty and territorial integrity has been guaranteed by the Constitutional Charter and reaffirmed by the UNSC Resolution 1244. International law does not recognise a right to unilaterally create a new state based on the principle of self-determination outside the colonial context and apartheid. IF you say Resolution 1244 doesn't apply because FRY doesn't exist anymore then that's the same as saying Serbia doesn't have honour all the preambles within Resolution 1244. Serb military and paramilitary [...]
Read the full comment units were within the border of Serbia to fight KLA terrorists who were attacking Serbian civilians and non albo population. albanians have terrorised and ethnically cleansed the Serbs in Kosovo for over a century. Kosovo's UDI is illegal under international law. Too many albanian refugees have crossed over for decades an the fact you have the highest birth rate along with driving Serbs out changed the balance of power. This will change, and albanians should live in albania or even better turkey.

I clearly see that you try to make your “historical facts” as [...]
Read the full comment it suits you. Good luck with that.
HISTORICAL: I strongly recommend you to read works of the world historians about the Balkans and get your facts right. Just pretending something that suits you doesn’t mean it corresponds to the reality. Do not get stuck up only with Serb, Albanian, Croat etc. historians.
LEGAL: According to UNSC Resolution 1244 Kosova is part of the Yugoslav Federation until a settlement of the final status. Yugoslav Federation does not exist any more and the Kosova status has been finally settled in accordance with the comprehensive proposal made by the UNSC appointed negotiator, former president of Finland and Nobel Peal laureate Mr Martti Ahtisaari.
MORAL: If I am not mistaken it was Serb military and paramilitary units that crossed the border to Kosova and terrorized the civilian population. No KLA member ever crossed the border to Serbia to attack civilians there.
PRACTICAL: Recognitions are coming up every day. Until now Kosova has been recognised by more than 2/3 of the world GDP, 22 out of 27 EU countries, 7 out of G7 countries and some of Islamic countries (the most important of Islamic countries being of course Saudi Arabia).
DILEMA: The again Kosova was a legal subject of the former Yugoslav Federation and had a veto right (see my previous comment) and thus also secession right.
KOSOVA IS KOSOVA AND SERBIA IS SERBIA and that is the way the things are my friend. But I would love to see an open border between all Balkan countries incl Kosova and Serbia.
Re:Simple Mind: problem in your story is that - you speak only about one side of truth! And that same problem will lead western countries into so big problems. Your autistic side of truth!!
HISTORICAL: Serbs came at Balkan 6 and 7 century. Albanians are one descendants of Illyrians, but they never organized any state. Serbs organized first Kingdom in this region - the house of Nemanjic.
Serbian Kingdom was first that stand afront of Otoman invasion of Cristian Europe. At 1389 year Serbs go to Kosovo battle and fought with 10 times stronger [...]

At WW1 2/3 of men Serbs die at war.
At WW2 Albanians was part of nazy soliders.
LEGAL: Kosovo i Metohija, was never the eight constituent parts of the former Yugoslav Federation!!! Serbia was.
MORAL: during history more than 50.000 Serbs was killed by Albanians, 100 willages burned - they kill only civilians cause they r to week to fight with any army!
PRACTICAL: Kosovo i Metohija region of Serbia was occupied by NATO with 75 days of bombing Yugoslavia. 200.000 Serbian civilians was removed from Kosovo. They live now at camps in Serbia!
Russia, China, Spain, India, Brasil..and more that 170 countries did not recognized Kosovo as a independent state!
DILEMA: only dilema is the date when Serbian army will march in Kosovo! And we all hope that will be soon.
George, Russia knows what they are doing. US has a history of stabbing in the back the very people they once supported.
Albanians always seem to back the losing side. Ever since they submitted to Turkey and convrted to Islam they have been making mistakes. This time they made another big mistake but after being forgiven so many times by the Serbs they have used up all their forgive me cards.
Turks, Germans and now the US are all losing sides and Albanians have hitched their wagon to all of them.

US has won nothing so far. They have not won Iraq, Afghanistan and a loss in Vietnam as well. The only thing America knows is how to bomb but that is not how wars are won.
Medvedev understands the fact that Kosovo is an intergrated part of the sovereign nation of Serbia
HISTORICAL: The first record of the albanians apearing in the Balkans was in the 15th century. Until then no historical record was found of such people. The albanians were a nomadic tribe from the caucasus brought to the Balkans by the ottomans.
LEGAL: The Republic of Serbia under internation law only recognises UNSC Resolution 1244 which guarrantees the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia...which INCLUDES Kosovo
MORAL: Under the puppet albanian kla [...]
Read the full comment terrorist leadership has only turned Kosovo to a hell of murder, rape, kidnapping, drug dealing, arms smuggling and islamic extremism. They have terroised Serbs for over a century driving them out through their barbarism.
PRACTICAL: 2/3 of the world has not recognised Kosovo due to illegality and violation of international law including powerful countries, Russia, China, India, and even most of the muslim countries of the middle east.
Dilema: The EU-sponsored report on the war in Georgia has ruled that provinces do not have the right to secession, thus admitting that the unilateral secession of Kosovo from Serbia was a clear violation of international law. Interesting...it seems Russia has in a subtle way proven that
Kosovo's UDI IS illegal after all.
KOSOVO IS SERBIA
Simple minds, you sure live up to your name.
Russia understands the importance maintaining the structures of international law, unlike the west's continueous contempt of law. With Russia resurging and becoming a major power again, establishing co-operation with the nations of Eurasia through the SCO, eg:China, India, and BRIC soon to become BRICA. The world will achieve balance through a bi-polar world rather than uni-polar.
The western economies are already decling and the balance of power shall shift to the east.
Mr Medvedev, Kosova(o) is anyway entitled to decide about its affairs. A quick look at some facts:
HISTORICAL: Albanians are descendants of Illyrians and thus autochthon population in the entire region of the former Yugoslavia and have been live there for eons, where as Serbs came to the Balkans somewhere between 7-10 century a.c. Also in the time between 10-20 a.c. the population of Kosova(o) was always above 70% Albanians. Today Albanians make up to 93-94% of the total population.
LEGAL: Kosova(o) was one of the eight constituent parts of the former [...]
Read the full comment Yugoslav Federation had the same legal status as Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia etc. and was equipped with veto power. So neither Serbia, nor any other part of the Yugoslav Federation could decide anything without the approval of Kosova(o). If Slovenia, Croatia etc. can be independent why not Kosova (o)?
MORAL: Kosova(o) Albanian population was brutally murdered (more than 11.000 Albanians killed in 1998-99) and dispelled from their homes during the last Kosova(o) war. More than 900.000 Albanians were driven out of their homes in 1998-99 - which is 50% of the total population.
PRACTICAL: Kosova(o) is today an independent country and has been recognised by more than 62 countries of the world. Among them being the most powerful countries in the world USA, UK, Japan, Canada, Germany, France etc.
DILEMA: If Russia has recognised Abchasia and South Ossetia, which have far les arguments to become independent, why is Russia not recognising Kosova(o)?!!! Is it because Russia always follows double standards?!!!
exh
Please learn economics you fool
do you know that russia has 450 billion in reserves what do yo albanians have, you have been the poor man of europe for 100 years you need to focus on your economy bgefore trying to expand territory,
ps sell that single f14 you have and buy a degree you knob,
Russia is better of to mind its own business. Kosova(o) is free from opression today, though Albanians paid dearly for their freedom(more than 11.000 Albanians killed in 1998-99). Serbia/Russia can only dream about having any say in matters concerning Kosova(o). Bye, bye Russian Red Army Military Boot / Serbian Army Boot in Kosova(o).
Russia should better look after its own economy, before China also buys some land from Russia, in the near future.
Russia has no power to shape the politics of Europe any more. This is simply because Russia has no friends in Europe and elsewhere.
Therefore, I suggest to Russia to look at internal problems, especially the economic ones.
Medvedev couldn't be any more direct so anyone who is still confused has just had it cleared up.
Kosovo's UDI was illegal and cannot stand.
