Accompanied by police sirens blaring and lights flashing – and the wind howling and rain pouring – participants in the One Life Charity Bike Ride made their way on October 3 from Bankya to Zlatusha.

As usual, a bus was available, giving the about 30 freezing riders who took part warmth and shelter from the elements for the return leg of the journey, but not before enjoying gallons of hearty homemade stew generously provided by John Parker.

Certificates of participation in what had been billed as the Great Bankya Bikeathon were signed and handed out in the warmth of a restaurant in Bankya, and in all, the event drew proceeds of about 2000 leva from the day itself, with potentially more donations to follow.

The organisers extended thanks, to Dragomir and DRAG Cycles for their perennial support, as well as to Stefan Dimitrov at Allied Pickfords for providing a lorry to carry the bikes.  CocaCola Corp provided free soft drinks and Bankya mineral water, and One Life Charity also thanked Sofia Echo Media for its support in publicising the event.
