Two Bulgarian police officers tape themselves having sex with an underage girl

Two Bulgarian police officers from the north-eastern city of Razgrad are to be axed, following revelations that they were involved in sexual molestation of a 16-year-old girl, constituting a criminal breach of trust, Focus news agency said on October 15.

Additionally, one of the officers accused of having sexual intercourse with the child was under a separate investigation of having beaten one of his neighbours, Bulgarian daily Dnevnik said.

The police officers were commissioned to the Black Sea port city of Varna where they perpetrated their alleged crime, Interior Ministry Chief Commissar, Kalin Georgiev, said.

Reportedly, the young girl  approached the officers, seeking their assistance, complaining that a man had tried to rape her on the beach. With that, the officers took the girl to their flat 'for her safety' where they went on to commit sexual intercourse with her. To top it all, they documented their crime by taping it.

"Instead of assisting the girl, the officers took her to their flat and molested her," Georgiev was quoted by Focus news agency as saying.

The two men have been charged with criminal breach of trust, abuse of authority, of having sexual intercourse with an under-age person, and have subsequently been fired.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that Drago Dimitov, one of the officers involved in the case, was temporarily released from duty in June 2009 after 75-year-old Marin Ivanov, a neighbour of the policeman, complained of having been physically assaulted by the officer.

During a patrol, Dimitrov allegedly parked his squad car on the pavement in front of Ivanov's house, obstructing both the pavement and the doorway of the man's house. When confronted by the pensioner, the officer responded with a barrage of "verbal and physical abuse", Dnevnik said.

In the aftermath of the event, Dimitrov was temporarily released from the Loznitsa precinct. Now, both Dimitrov and his accomplice Anani Velev are held in custody while the sexual molestation case continues. They will also be made to see a psychiatrist.

Good that the police were caught abusing there power and molesting a girl against her will however I dont understand the charge of having sex with someone underage when the age of consent in Bulgaria is 14. This could give them a loop hole to go free

For sure policemen do crimes even in Sweden. At least they make here in Finland sometimes. They are not automatic saints anywhere. I remember at least this kind of sexual abuse case and one case where police shot himself + his wife. Actually in general police have hard job and for example alcoholism is quite high in them.

I dont see anywhere that they have been charged with rape. Why not?? Chuck them in prison and throw away the key. Let them rot for their disgusting abuse of power and trust. Probably they will get slapped wrists and told not to be naughty again
