Italy's prime minister Silvio Berlusconi is due to arrive on an official visit to Sofia on October 15. He will meet his Bulgarian counterpart, Boiko Borissov, and the President of Bulgaria, Georgi Purvanov, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reported.

On the agenda is a private meeting between the two prime ministers to be followed by a ceremony in the Italian embassy commemorating the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both countries.

Italian ambassador Stefano Benazzo will then decorate Borissov and an official post stamp celebrating both countries will be validated.

Following the ceremony Berlusconi will meet President Purvanov and he will be decorated with the Stara Planina order. All expenses affiliated with the official visit of Berlusconi to Bulgaria will be covered by the Italian embassy, ambassador Benazzo announced.

Earlier in September, Borisov was congratulated by Berlusconi, as well as by German chancellor Angela Merkel, regarding the reforms that his GERB has initiated since coming into power, in home affairs, justice reforms and tackling corruption.
