A CSKA Sofia supporter was diagnosed as a H1N1 carrier upon his return from Italy, after the club's away match against AS Roma at the Stadio Olympico for the UEFA Europe League, which the Bulgarian team lost 2-0.

According to Sportal.bg, "many Reds supporters have been alarmed by the fact they they were exposed to the person for a prolonged period of time," the website said on October 7.

The fan, a native of Samokov, a town in the outskirts of Rila Mountain, south of Sofia, travelled to and from Italy with a coach with other CSKA supporters and then mingled with a 3000-strong contingent of supporters in the Italian capital.

As a consequence, six other supporters were examined in the infectious diseases department in a Sofia hospital. They have been subsequently released by the authorities who stated that they proved negative, although medical establishments in Bulgaria are said to be on a high alert and vigil.

The medical authorities, according to Sportal.bg, have advised all Bulgarians who travelled to Rome for the match to be on alert and immediately report to the nearest hospital for treatment if they believe they are developing symptoms associated with the strain.
