A school fight in the seaside city of Varna resulted in the death of 16-year-old pupil Georgi Chakurov, Dnevnik daily reported on October 5 2009.

The boy died after a fight with a fellow classmate. Both students attend the technical secondary school in Varna. The fight reportedly occurred after school hours on October 5 at around 1.30pm.

The confrontation took place on the street outside the school grounds between Chakurov and another student a year younger than himself. Following a short altercation, Chakurov collapsed. At around 2.20pm a paramedic unit arrived at the scene and transported Chakurov to St Anna Hospital.

"He had no physical injuries. There were no bruises on his body, there were no stab wounds either. The boy arrived clinically dead," said hospital director Lidia Petkova, quoted by Darik Radio.

The other boy is in police custody.
