Turbulent times have engulfed the Bulgarian champions and Levski Sofia president Todor Batkov in particular following yet another disappointing league result on the weekend against Lokomotiv Plovdiv on October 4 2009.

Levski supporters are demanding that Batkov hand in his resignation, in a campaign which started a week earlier after the humiliating defeat at the hands of Chernomorets.

On October 4, Levski registered their sixth consecutive match without a victory, in what has transpired as the weakest start of the season in Levski's living memory. Current head coach Radko Dostanic is likely to be shown the door in the aftermath of the string of poor performances and Levski's sports director Georgi Ivanov has said that "his position in the club will be reconsidered" Bulgarian daily Dnevnik said on October 5 2009.

At the back of five consecutive defeats, Levski travelled to Plovdiv where it was entertained by equally beleaguered Lokomotiv in the latest round of the domestic league. The match was a patchy and hesitant affair from the beginning, but progressively Levski took the initiative and started dominating proceedings.

They went up 2-0 ahead with goals from a Cedric Bardon penalty in the 33rd minute and a Hristo Yovov effort in the 44th. The champions left the pitch at half time looking positive for the first time since the beginning of the season, and there was a glimpse of hope for the travelling blues supporters.

In the second half however the hosts regrouped and gradually retained control of the match with skipper Dimitar Iliev reducing the deficit in the 52nd minute for 2-1. The champions then appeared like they might just cling on to the vital three away points as the game was withering away, but in the second minute of injury time, Dakson equalised.

That meant Levski spilled yet two more vital points in their campaign, while CSKA Sofia beat Sliven 1-0 at the Bulgarian Army stadium in Sofia with a Todor Timonov strike, maintaining their perch on top in the Bulgarian A League with 22 points from eight encounters, a two point advantage over second placed Chernomorets, and a comfortable five point cushion over third placed Lokomotiv Sofia. Levski Sofia are eight with only ten points from seven outings, with a game in hand.
