Sirens to be tested in 10 cities on October 1

The Civil Protection National Service will test its sirens in 10 cities at 11am on October 1 2009 for 20 minutes. The cities are Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv, Bourgas, Rousse, Kurdjali, Smolyan, Pleven, Pazardjik and Montana.

The check of the sirens, which are supposed to signal a major public danger, happen twice a year, on April 1 and on October 1. People are asked to remain calm and not panic when they hear the sirens.
