On September 26-27 2009, Sofia will host the fifth round of Bulgaria's national rally championship.

As in previous years, drivers will compete on a closed track at an improvised track on Sofia's ring road intersection with Bulgaria Boulevard leading to Boyana borough.

A total of 85 drivers will compete in the race, with organisers expecting a crowd of between 20 000 to 30 000 people, Bulgarian-language Dnevnik daily said. The record for attendance is 70 000.

The event has always enjoyed great popularity, but it has always been accompanied by organisational flaws, such as lack of sufficient places for spectators, and a lack of order.

This year, for the first time, organisers are introducing tickets for the event. The qualifying rounds on September 26 can be watched for the price of four leva while tickets for the actual race on September 27 will cost six leva.

People who want to watch the race from their vehicles can do so by using the three specially set up parking areas, for five leva a vehicle.

Qualifying rounds start after 11am on September 26 while the official ceremony of the race is scheduled for 9.30am on September 27 with the start scheduled for 10am.

Because of the event, the southern section of the ring road and the section between Todor Kableshkov Boulevard and Bulgaria Boulevard will be closed between 11.30am-6.30pm on September 26 and between 9am-1.30pm on September 27.
