Bulgaria's nuclear power plant at Kozloduy on River Danube shut down one of its two 1000MW reactors for scheduled annual maintenance, Dnevnik daily said.

The reactor will be refuelled and reconnected to the power grid at the beginning of November. The other unit had undergone annual maintenance in spring, the daily said.

Units 5 and 6 are the only operational reactors at Kozloduy, after Bulgaria shut down four smaller reactors before joining the European Union in January 2007, at the bloc's request.
