Leader of Muslims in Bulgaria sees anti-Islamism in metro line damaging mosque

Excavation work for the Sofia metro have damaged the buildings of Banya Bashi, the only mosque in Sofia in use as a place of worship, with authorities doing nothing about it, Bulgarian-language Dnevnik daily quoted the Chief Mufti's Office as saying on September 11 2009.
According to the Chief Mufti's Office, the irresponsible attitude towards Islamic values was worrying and added to suspicions that lately there had been a trend of negative attitudes towards the Muslim community and its problems in Bulgaria.
The Chief Mufti's Office said that this was the most recent attempt to insult the Muslim place of worship, which is also a monument of culture of national importance.
The Ministry of Culture has previously assured the Mufti's Office that they would look into the issue carefully.
However, despite these assurances, cracks in the mosque's walls and its minaret had appeared, which could lead to permanent damage, the Chief Mufti's Office said.

Soteris: Tell that to the violent Islamic extremists.
Why is it that all the problems in the World are attributed to either Jewish or Muslim element. None of these religions or other religions advocate war. So people put down your weapons and learn to communicate with other races so that we can be at peace and respect others cultures. We all have a duty to care.
Maybe we can have "senior US embassy officials" come over to hold the Mosque for the mufti.
They are best buddies, you know, those Muslims and the Americans, now that they have a Hussein for a President.
In the other article, they were "praying" together for the victims of 9.11. in that Mosque.
Kind of a raw deal though. 3000 Americans for at least 250,000 (probably twice that) Muslims since 9.11.

I hope the 2nd Mosque which is proposed will replace the present one if it is beyond repair, abd a station on the new metro will serve it.
