Bulgaria to co-ordinate joint energy projects with Russia with the EU

Prime Minister Boiko Borissov, left, with EC President Jose Barroso at a joint news conference in Brussels on September 10 2009.

All documents regarding Bulgaria’s joint energy projects with Russia will be sent to Brussels so that EU opinion on the projects can be heard, Prime Minister Boiko Borissov said after meeting European Commission president Jose Barroso on September 10 2009.

Borissov met Barroso at the end of his two-day visit to Brussels where he led a delegation of 12 of his ministers. This was his first official visit abroad after taking office in July 2009.

One possibility for the construction of Belene nuclear power plant was for a co-funding of the project from European Atomic Energy Community - Euratom, the Government’s website said.

The question of an additional 300 million euro compensation to Bulgaria for the closure of units at Kozloduy nuclear power plant would be raised by the EC, the website quoted Barroso.

In order for the compensation to become a fact, there had to be a legal basis for it and financing, Barroso said.

Overall Barroso praised Borissov’s efforts in restoring the EU’s trust in Bulgaria’s ability to absorb EU funds in a transparent way and urged Borissov to keep the pace of reforms. Borissov expressed his support for Barroso’s second term in office.

Russia will get more of a beating if it continues to not like the freedom a bunch of post war Europe has just got from it. Fuck them drunks blew up one of their own power plants and they now tell the world not to invest in nuclear energy - besides look at the control they had and the rules they put in to about 11 European countries before the pact was undone bu Poland/Czechoslovakia if they think US and UK are bad imperialists they are bad imperialists the Soviet are known for it aswell.

One of my parents left Slovakia and settled to get British and then Canadian citizenship after a long time of not totally liking Russian control in Eastern European countries and she is not proven wrong with the collapse of this. Good countries like Poland which undid this pact show their good political side. Befriend Poland and those countries that undid the Russian pact and refused their bad beer. The Soviet Union got the beating it very well wanted

"All documents regarding Bulgaria’s joint energy projects with Russia will be sent to Brussels .."

I am willing to bet that that was the price for unblocking the funds. Nothing to do with corruption.

I also agree about the Russo-German axis.
Those two has flirted with each other for centuries and the closer they get, the closer we are to a new order.
The traditional English formula has been one of surrounding Germany and isolating Russia. Keeping Turkey at odds with Russia was always a part of it. [...]

What's happening now is Russia, Germany and Turkey are getting closer and closer.
This will be interesting.

Nothing that the Bulgarian government or the officials of the EU do can will stop the rise and rise of the German/Russian axis. The EU officials won't provide any cover for blocking Putin's pipeline. There's a man who will certainly nurse a grudge to robust health.
