CSKA Sofia football club inked a two-year shirt sponsorship with Globul, ending the team's season-long search for a sponsor and expanding the mobile operator's portfolio of sponsorships in Bulgarian football.

The deal was finalised several days ago, according to Dnevnik daily. It will not affect Globul's current deals with the Bulgarian national team or Litex Lovech, one of CSKA's title rivals, the company said.

Bonus clauses have been inserted in the contract, based on domestic league and European competitions performance, but also for the direct clashes with CSKA's arch rivals, Levski Sofia, incidentally sponsored by Globul's biggest rival on the mobile services market, M-Tel.

CSKA executive director Ventsislav Zhivkov said earlier that the new sponsorship deal would bring no less than two million euro in the team's coffers, but the details of the club's contract with Globul have not been made public.

"We conducted negotiations with other companies as well, but it was Globul who were the most persistent," CSKA president Dimitar Borissov said. "The company's financial support will allow CSKA to fulfill its potential, not only on the the pitch but with improved marketing," he said.

Globul chief executive commercial officer Dimitris Blatsios said: "The partnership with a team of such magnitude as CSKA is an honor and a privilege for Globul. It a logical new step in our effort in support of Bulgarian sport and Bulgarian football."

The club's previous sponsor was Vivatel, Bulgaria's third mobile operator, but the deal was allowed to lapse after the 2007/08 season. Last season, the team played without a sponsor as the club went through a prologued ownership change.

In October 2008, it was reported that the club was in talks with Danish brewer Carlsberg to become the team's shirt sponsor. The value of the contract was at the time estimated to be at about one million euro. The negotiations were spearheaded by CSKA former chairperson Alexander Tomov. Carlsberg, however, were said to be unwilling to seal the deal because of Tomov's widely-reported mismanagement of the club.
