Bomb blast leaves a woman and a child dead, another child is critical

A woman and her five-year-old child were killed in a car bomb in Razlog on September 1, Gergana Moralieva, a police spokesperson in Blagoevgrad has said, as quoted by Dnevnik daily.

The bomb went off at about 8am as the woman attempted to open the garage door. Police believe the explosive device was remotely activated, possibly by a mobile phone. The victims were identified as the wife and child of 37-year-old Yavor Mandradjiev. Meanwhile, his second child, a nine-year-old, was hospitalised and is in critical condition.

Earlier on Tuesday, Razlog deputy mayor Ivan Gyurov said that the man responsible for the blast is a well known criminal with a longstanding criminal dossier involving racketeering, fraud and smuggling of goods.

However, Gyurov declined to release further information, saying that "rumours about what this person did and how he came across so much money are rife, but whatever I say at this stage will be merely gossiping",  Dnevnik daily has quoted him as saying.

In July 2005, a mother and her two-year-old child died in a bomb blast in Obzor. The explosive was planted in the jeep of 36-year-old Pali Penkov, concessionaire of the town's seafront. The incident occurred outside the Helios Bay hotel. Penkov's daughter was killed instantly, his 29-year-old wife died two days later. Penkov survived the attack.

Thanks Dianne and Valeri, without your comments, Nick would have left me in the lurch about what country this took place in. Upon closer inspection, I suppose it is mentioned in the caption for the picture "Bulgarian Police." Way to go Nick!

Your hate is transparent.
