Singer Doogie White is confirmed to perform alongside with Jon Lord at his concert at the antique Roman theatre, in Plovdiv, Bulgaria on September 1.

The keyboard player of the legendary English outfit Deep Purple will open the Autumn Salon in Plovdiv, according to a press release from Sofia Music Enterprises.

In a statement on Jon Lord's website, it was announced that at short notice, Doogie White is taking over the male vocalist spot for Steve Balsamo who is unavailable for this concert.

"I have been asked to sing with Jon Lord in Plovdiv, Bulgaria on September 1. I will be standing in for the very splendid Steve Balsamo," he said.

After Bulgaria, Doogie White will travel to Turin, Italy, to rehearse for a show with Ian Paice, Neil Murray, Phil Hilborne and Neil Otupacca. The ex-Rainbow singer is also working on a solo album. Meanwhile, Kasia Laska will handle female vocal duties at Plovdiv.

Lord is widely recognised for his Hammond organ blues-rock sound and for his pioneering work in fusing rock and classical or baroque forms. His illustrious musical career spans over classic rock acts such as Deep Purple, as well as of Whitesnake, Paice, Ashton & Lord, The Artwoods and Flower Pot Men. He has worked with numerous other artists including Graham Bonnet (following Bonnet's departure from Rainbow).

In 1968, Lord co-founded Deep Purple. He and drummer Ian Paice were the only constant band members during the band's existence from 1968 to 1976 and from when they regrouped in 1984 until Lord's retirement in 2002.
