Two days before Madonna will play a gig in Sofia, construction of the massive stage on the Vassil Levski national stadium is already underway, organisers Sofia Music Enterprises (SME) said on August 26.

More than 1000 people were assembling the stage, 80m long and 40m tall, which arrived in Sofia in 80 long-haul trucks, SME said.

The gig has sold out within weeks, with more than 50 000 tickets sold.

The 38 ticket gates will open no earlier than 5.30pm, two hours before Paul Oakenfold begins his warm-up set, with Madonna set to appear on stage at 9pm.
