Bulgarian police seize more than a ton of cannabis

Bulgarian police disrupted the harvest of cannabis in several villages in the Petrich and Sandanski regions in south-western Bulgaria, seizing a total of 1120 kg of cannabis, Bulgarian news agency BTA quoted a police statement as saying.

In the village of Palat, in the municipality of Stroumyani, police found 107 kg cannabis that had been cut and was left to dry. The cannabis had been seized and transported to the district court in Sandanksi, police said.

Near the village of Kromidovo, police found a total of 412 kg of cut cannabis that was left to dry near a water channel, police said. Police was still trying to establish who cultivated the plants.

Near the village of Yavornitsa, police had found 183 kg of cannabis that had been left to dry in the sun, and another 418 kg had been found in the village of Dragoun in the Petrich region, police said.
