Martin Petrov expects to depart from Manchester City

Manchester City striker and Bulgarian international Martin Petrov expects to leave the Eastlands. He reckons that with the new high-profile arrivals this summer, Mark Hughes will not be banking too seriously on his services.

"I don't see City depending too much on me this year, at least from what I have seen from the pre-season friendlies so far. No footballer is content with polishing the bench and I am no exception" he said, in an interview for Dnevnik.

Petrov is currently in Bulgaria with the national team ahead of the international friendly against Lithuania on August 12.

He is contemplating to hold talks with Mark Hughes next week in order 'to shed some light in his future', as the transfer window is about to close at the end of the month.

Petrov told Bulgarian media that he doesn't have any concrete offers but that there are 'alternatives'.

"There were several inquiries but no offers as of yet" he said. Martin Petrov has been a City player since the summer of 2007, when he was signed from Atletico Madrid, but he is likely to depart from the club like his compatriot, Valeri Bojinov who left City and went to Italian Parma.
