Clairvoyant Totka Totevska from Pleven was apprehended on charges of "fraud, embezzlement and grand theft", according to a statement by Diana Markova from the Pleven Municipal prosecution unit.
Totevska's home was raided on August 8 by a special branch police unit escorted by municipal prosecutor agents. According to the report, a large quantity of evidence was retrieved from the site, indicating that "Totevska practised medicine and healing without a medical certificate, and that she acquired substantial amount of money and other valuables from patients illegally, without actually healing them in the process".
The operation was mounted after a case involving a 38-year-old woman from Vratsa who needed to see a gynaecologist but instead opted to see the 'medic-clairvoyant' was revealed to the police.
Totevska assured her 'patient' that she could cure the ailment from the woman's genitalia if she was willing to pay 100 000 leva over the course of 60 'sessions'.
The patient promptly agreed, unfortunately, 60 000 leva and dozens of sessions later it was apparent that the procedure was not as effective as she hoped and she complained that her condition had 'deteriorated substantially', leading to serious complications.
"This is a particularly severe case of fraud" said Markova, referring to the latest case. Meanwhile the 'doctor' was in the middle of her four year parole sentence following a previous incident involving three other 'patients'.
According to the report, the accused herself will be subjected to a thorough medical examination, while other past 'patients' are being encouraged by the authorities to come forward and submit evidence.
Consequently, Totevska is now expected to face a sentence of between three and 10 years and half of her property is to be appropriated by the municipality.
Totevska had repeatedly insisted in her self-defence that she never practised medicine, only fortune telling, and that she is a self-proclaimed clairvoyant.
Seven arrested, including ‘The Squirrel’ who was found in possession of 10 00 euro, Interior Ministry says. Mobile phones, computer equipment and drug paraphernalia seized.
The first tremor was at about 12.34am, followed by another three minutes later. Their epicentres were located between the towns of Radnevo and Topolovgrad.
Any chance of the lottery numbers just give me the correct six
before they put the clairvoyant in prison, any chance anyone could ask her who will win the Premiership?
thinking of placing a bet...
P.S.
I am telling you, people have so much cash here... 100,000 leva.. what is that $180,000?
Kidding... not yet. Probably about $75,000;)
Wow,
for a second there, after reading the headline, the photo looked like a scary illustration...
... this is what 100,000 leva got you! A medical disaster!
Kidding Epami, not to drop of wine for me tonight!
As a clairvoyant her ability to forsee the future appears to be a bit lacking.
