Ljubljana not interested in Madonna

Too few tickets sold was said to have been the reason for the cancellation of Madonna's August 20 concert in Ljubljana, although organisers deny.

"The reason for the cancellation is logistical, and has nothing to do with the number of tickets sold," one of the organisers was quoted by Bulgarian daily Dnevnik as saying.

Local media in Slovenia said only 7000 out of the 63 000 concert tickets had been sold.

The Ljubljana concert would be the second concert of Madonna's 2009 tour to have failed to take place. Earlier this year, a stadium in Marseille collapsed and killed two people.

No changes to Madonna's planned concert on August 29 in Sofia's Vasil Levski stadium were announced, Dnevnik said.

Don't forget that Bulgarian media is still controlled by the state. It's not based on fact, merely what they want us to think. They are trying to knock Madonna because she stand for everything they are scared of...freedom to say, do and think whatever you want! Being part of Europe is just politics, they are so backward that they can't see ahead!

FACT.Madonna had already SOLD over 30,000 tickets at that venue. This article is full of LIES.

We're just not that interested in her. When good rock acts play, they sell out, and although we are only 2 million, people come from neighbouring Austria and Italy if it's a good concert. Whitesnake was full of Italian rockers. And when the good Yugo-rock nostalgia acts like Bajaga and Bijelo Dugme, Parne Valjak play - watch out, there aren't even stadiums big enough to hold that many fans. She's just not worth the money she was charging, it's too expensive for us as our salaries are still quite low, on average about 1200 euro per month, she doesn't have [...]

Read the full comment any emotional connection to Slovenia (like the Yugo acts do) and probably doesn't even know where Ljubljana is. Brian Adams on the other hand made a huge effort to get to know Slovenia and is a sell-out every time.

She has a disastrous habit of always arriving two hours late for concerts or gigs (which caused great problems for London fans recently in trying to get back hom by public transport !), so - basically - serves her right.

Maybe an unexpected "hole" in her diary will enable her to turn up to her next engagement on time ?

The title of your article is rude.

Slovenia has only a couple million people in it. 7000 is a pretty good percentage of that. Seems organizers could have taken advantage of the situation by having Madonna play a much smaller, more intimate space. This could have been an interesting opportunity both for her and Slovenian fans, as opposed to doing the usual pompous, overblown stadium show. But I guess 7000 people are not worth your time when you're a superstar. :-/
