Swine flu in Greece infects 1002, while 1362 die worldwide

Greek authorities have confirmed that the total number of infected people in the country has reached 1002, the Bulgarian news agency BTA has reported, citing local media.

According to statistics, most of those infected are in the Attica region, the island of Crete, and the Ionian islands. The Greek government has promised that 24 million vaccines are due to arrive in the country by mid-September and that the entire population will be inoculated for free.

Meanwhile the total number of fatalities from the H1N1 strain worldwide has reached 1362, according to world media reports. Only last week, 338 people lost their lives, and in the last 48 hours, 97 have succumbed to the strain, the World Health Organisation WHO was quoted as saying.
